The system behind the rose – how PharmaRosa® works
If origin, varietal purity and predictable quality matter to you, it is worth seeing the system in the background as well. On this page, from the history of the nursery to the way it operates today, we show how pot-grown quality has become own-root, fully traceable production: identification, plot management, plant passport and quality assurance.

From research attitude to horticultural foundation
The roots of our nursery go back to 1960: Dr István Túri, a paprika breeder, and his wife established the enterprise. From the very beginning, a research and breeding mindset has defined the way we work. Introducing new varieties and variety types into production, and implementing new cultivation technologies, created a strong development culture on which PharmaRosa® still builds today.
The direction of rose production and pot-grown quality
From the early 1970s the family began to specialise in rose growing. Drawing on experience with traditional bare-root production, over many years of work we developed the practice of pot-grown rose cultivation. Its greatest values became the consistently reliable establishment success and the preservation of varietal identity.
Becoming a business and maintaining family continuity
After 1992 the nursery developed into a business, and from the end of the 1990s the persistent work based on pot-grown rose production laid the foundations for today’s success of PharmaRosa® Ltd. Since the founders passed away, the business has continued under family management: versatility, a development-focused mindset and professional discipline remain central to our decisions.
The turning point: adaptation and a unique solution on a European scale
Economic and labour market changes after 2018 created a new situation. We did not respond with mere “survival solutions”, but with a new, stable production and sales model: uniquely in Europe, we developed the propagation and growing of own-root roses for our entire assortment.
Today, more than 1,500 varieties are in production, and behind our range there is not a random stock but a uniformly managed system.

How the PharmaRosa® system works today
The essence of the way we work today is: transparent origin, traceable processes, uniform professional standards. Our goal is that every rose – regardless of variety or form of presentation – reliably represents the quality its name promises.
Verified foundation: uniform propagation material
Every process starts from the PharmaRosa® NEONATAL® rooted cutting, which is the basis of propagation. This ensures that varietal purity and consistent quality are not just a “hope” but a system principle.
Plot-based growing: identifiable batches, traceable journey
Plants are grown in designated, identified plots. The roses can be handled in batches, so their journey from the plot to packaging is fully traceable. This does not only mean good organisation, but genuine security too: if any deviation occurs, we can act quickly and in a targeted way.
Plant passport and transparent origin
Roses dispatched in packaging are accompanied by a plant passport (Plant Passport). In this way the buyer receives not only a beautiful plant, but also the reassurance of a background whose origin and compliance can be clearly followed.
Two sales models – one principle: clarity
Within our system there are two types of sales:
• Intermediated sales, where the seller is the agricultural primary producer (this is indicated on the product page).
• Direct sales, where the seller is PharmaRosa® Ltd.
The common point in both cases is that the process is transparent and the buyer can clearly see every essential piece of information.
Quality assurance: discipline, verifiability, rapid response
For us, quality is not an after-the-fact check, but an integral part of day-to-day operations:
• batch identification and traceability,
• controlled plant protection practice,
• stock and plot management suitable for official inspection,
• blocking system: immediate action in the event of any deviation, to protect quality.

What does this mean for you as a buyer?
PharmaRosa® is unique in that it places a system behind every rose: a consistent propagation base, identifiable growing, documented origin and uniform professional responsibility. This is how we can maintain an operation which, even with a wide selection, makes quality, varietal identity and transparency a daily reality rather than a promise.
A rose is a living plant – with natural variation. Our work focuses on everything that can be influenced (origin, varietal identity, growing discipline, traceability, packaging and information), so that with every order these are delivered to the same high standard.
